Dear Past Me,
When you were planning (or, uh... not planning) your children, you should have thought of the fact that you would have a 3 year old three years in a row. Three years in a row. Three. Years. In. A. Row.
Love,
Too Late Now
PS - I love my kids.
Dear Husband,
I know you get your sense of fairness from being brought up with everything having to be completely equal all the time, but I am not counting minutes to make sure we spend exactly THE SAME AMOUNT of time with each side of the family. I want to spend time with everyone too, but I like some people more than others and only see them once a year. Deal with it.
Love,
Life's Not Fair
Dear Cats,
I know you hate being on a diet, but you are fat. I'm sorry. That dry cat food doesn't look that good anyway, and you just watched the mouse run by you on the porch so you must not be that THAT hungry.
Love,
I Hate Diets Too
Dear Me,
You need a vacation. Your husband does too.
Love,
Don't I Wish
Dear Future Me,
I think you might be crazy for planning a road trip that takes you well over 2000 miles with 4 small children. Right now I am pretending that it's going to go really, really well. Maybe it will. (A person can hope...)
Love,
KrazyKakes
Dear Easter Candy,
I can't be trusted to stay away from you. I need you to get out now, please.
Love,

Easter & Earth Day craft
Here is an easy craft that makes a cute teacher gift, and it's cheap AND it reuses old plastic bottles so let's pass it off as an Earth Day craft too!
Start with a plastic bottle. I used 3 because I wanted 3 teacher gifts. Cut the top off and recycle it.
Paint the bottoms. We went with white, and we used a latex paint because I wasn't sure if acrylic would stick, and I also already had the paint out.
I let the kids paint their own, and then when it was mostly dry (or when the kids couldn't!wait!any!more!) we cut out little ears and the kids colored them, and we glued on cotton ball tails. When the paint was all the way dry I drew the faces on, put in a bit of Easter grass and a few of my favorite candies. Easy, cute and something that the teacher will hopefully think is cute but won't mind tossing out when the candy is gone and she gets sick of looking at it. It's also easy enough that the kids can do most of it themselves.

Once Upon a Time...
Once upon a time, there was a girl. She fell in love with a boy and eventually they were married. They grew up a little more and one day they found out they were going to have a baby!
They thought everything would be perfect.
Seven years and four children later, the mom - who was no longer just a girl - was on the edge of her sanity. Things weren't perfect.
Was this happily ever after?
Pee on the floor every.single.day?
Messy faces. Screaming.
So much fighting that her ears never stopped ringing.
There were children screaming "NO!" and hitting other children upside the head with toy shovels.
There were always toys on the floor, dishes in the sink and much, much laundry to be done.
She forgot who she once wanted to be. She compromised.
A lot.
She couldn't remember the last time she ended the day and felt like she had actually been successful at this job. In fact, she mourned over having too little patience, too much temper, and all the things she'd said or done wrong, and yet she knew she was going to have to get up and do it all over again - better - at 5:30AM, if not sooner.
For years and years and years.
Sometimes, she just wanted to quit.
Instead, she got hugs around the neck from sticky little arms and wiped tears off soft cheeks.
She rocked and sang, rocked and sang.
She cried and rejoiced at milestones.
She set aside tiny clothes that no longer fit and watched baby after baby take first steps, say first words and grow up faster than she thought possible.
She heard sweet I love yous and had a million kisses thrown her way.
She heard angelic prayers said with the innocence of children.
She marveled at their faith, and it strengthened her own.
She had brief moments of perfection amidst all the chaos.
She felt amazed that four wonderful little people could really be hers.
She knew it wouldn't last and so she tiptoed in for one more kiss on soft, sleepy cheeks and downy heads.
Maybe this is happily ever after, after all.

Easter pictures
I finally got the kids' Easter pictures taken, edited and they are ready to share! Be aware, this post has a loooot of pictures. Special thanks to Swistle for this post which lead to me buying Miss L the perfect Easter dress.
If you skip all the rest of the pictures, be sure to look at the group ones at the end. I left in some of the funny outtakes. Don't EVER tell your children NOT to make funny faces so you can just take the (%&^% pictures and be done with it already!

Strawberry Crepes
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk (I use skim)
- 2/3 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 -Combine all the ingredients. Beat or blend until very smooth. Batter will be very thin. If not very thin, add a bit more milk or water.
Crepes are very versatile, and can be savory or sweet. They are great for breakfast, dessert, anything! For this recipe I tried to keep it very simple. I mixed about 3 cups fresh, cut strawberries with about a cup to a cup and a half of light cool whip and a healthy dose of cinnamon. I mixed it up and rolled it up in the crepes. A fine dusting of powdered sugar on top and it was an easy, delicious and healthy dessert!

~ O baby ~
Dear O,
You are 4 today! When did you get so big?
We waited for you, and were so happy when you arrived. I knew right away that you and d would be friends. Right from the start you seemed interested in everything he did.
You were such a serious baby, but he could make you laugh even when no one else could. Oh, you were so sweet. Definitely a mama's boy.
You became a big brother at such a young age, only 13 months. Of course, you were too young to realize what was going on. I still feel like you were robbed of your babyhood a little bit, but by that point you were d's shadow and didn't seem to care.
You were a very happy toddler, and have always been a bit of a clown. You say and do the funniest things to make us laugh.
You love to talk, & sing - oh, how you love music! - and you love to be right. (You may have gotten those genes from my side of the family.) It can be infuriating at times, but I'm thrilled you have so much confidence in yourself. I know it will take you far.
You love animals, especially cats. You are loud. LOUD. And hilarious. And I can't believe you joined us 4 years ago.
Our family is more special because you're in it.
Happy 4th birthday big guy.
Love,
Mama
